Mediaeval World RPG

In the far reaches of the North, where the sun lingers in summer and vanishes in winter, lies a land of ancient oaths and forgotten gods. This is the world of Skarnhalla—a realm carved from ice, fire, and fate.

Scattered across its jagged fjords and snowbound forests are five mighty kingdoms: from the storm-wracked cliffs of Drakensund to the frost-bitten towers of Frosthall, each realm clings to power amidst rising omens and crumbling alliances.

Dragons, once bound by rune-pacts to slumber beneath the mountains and seas, now stir in their hollows. Their shadows return to the skies—some as allies, others as heralds of ruin. These are not mere beasts, but ancient forces—living echoes of creation and destruction.

In the whispering woods of Nornskog, the seers speak of a great unraveling—a time when the Root of the End will awaken and the world shall tremble. Old powers long buried are stirring, and heroes must rise to face not just beasts and tyrants, but the fate woven into the bones of the earth itself.

Welcome to Skarnhalla.

A land of runestones, ravens, dragons, and doom.

The dragons in this world are- 1st Dragon type Species Name: Frostshade Phantom Class: Mystery Class Appearance: The Frostshade Phantom has an ethereal, icy look with translucent wings and a ghostly white-and-blue body. It glows slightly in darkness, giving it an otherworldly presence. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Cryo-breath — A freezing mist that can solidify water mid-air, encase enemies in frost, and obscure vision like a dense fog. Personality: Intelligent, elusive, and fiercely loyal once bonded. Often shy or cautious around humans but known to be mischievously curious. At night, it becomes bolder and more confident. Speed: 9/10 — Extremely fast and agile in the air, especially in cold or misty weather. Capable of sharp turns and sudden dives. Firepower (Cryo-power): 7/10 — While it doesn't breathe traditional fire, its cryo-breath is highly potent, causing frostbite and creating slick terrain to unbalance opponents. Stealth: 10/10 — Nearly invisible at night or in snowy environments. Its silent flight makes it perfect for ambushes. Fun Facts: Nicknamed “Spooky” by Vikings due to its eerie appearance and silent gliding. Said to bring winter wherever it nests. Rarely seen in pairs; believed to be solitary unless raising hatchlings. 2nd dragon type Species Name: Venomveil Raptor Class: Strike Class Appearance: The Venomveil Raptor sports a muscular, sleek body built for precision and ambush. Its stark black-and-white coloring, with jagged patterns, resembles war paint. Its expressive face and frilled features hint at high intelligence and a strong emotional range. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Venomous Plasma Bolt — Launches concentrated plasma blasts laced with a mild paralytic venom. Upon impact, the venom can briefly disorient larger dragons or knock out smaller prey. Personality: Bold and cunning, the Venomveil Raptor is a tactical hunter and fiercely territorial. It can bond deeply with a single rider, showing intense protectiveness and even jealousy. Quick to anger but quicker to defend. They live in rugged mountains. Speed: 8/10 — Built more for sudden bursts of speed and combat agility than long-distance flight. Can lunge or leap into the air from a still position. Firepower: 8/10 — Its plasma bolts are powerful, especially when enhanced with venom. Its scream before attacking is also used to intimidate or startle enemies. Agility: 9/10 — Exceptionally flexible with sharp, reflexive movements. Uses wings and tail for sweeping attacks on the ground or in midair. Fun Facts: Known to mimic the cries of other dragons to lure prey or confuse predators. Legends say a bonded Venomveil will only allow one rider in its lifetime. Its frills and expressions allow it to communicate surprisingly well through body language. 3rd Dragon type Species Name: Glimmerscale Serpent Class: Tracker Class Variants: Aqua Glimmerscale (light variant) Nebula Glimmerscale (dark variant) General Species Traits: Appearance: The Glimmerscale Serpent is a sleek, agile dragon with leaf-shaped wings and bioluminescent patterns that shimmer like stars or water ripples. Its appearance shifts subtly in different light conditions, aiding in camouflage and communication. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Photon Pulse — A short-range, high-energy flash from the mouth that disorients opponents and briefly blinds them. Some pulses can ignite dry material if concentrated. Personality: Curious and observant, Glimmerscales are highly social with their own kind and their rider. They’re cautious with strangers but can be very affectionate once trust is earned. They enjoy puzzles and tracking games. Speed: 7/10 — Not the fastest in straight-line flight, but capable of extremely tight turns and nimble dodges. Excellent forest or cave navigators. Firepower: 5/10 — Their primary weapon is tactical rather than destructive. Used more for stunning or escaping than direct confrontation. Tracking Ability: 10/10 — Incredibly sensitive to vibrations and scent trails. Their bioluminescence also allows silent signaling with others over long distances. Variant Details: Aqua Glimmerscale: Light teal and silver tones; prefers coastal, marsh, and forest environments. More playful and daylight-active. Its shine blends beautifully with water and foliage. Nebula Glimmerscale: Dark indigo and star-speckled; favors caves, deep forests, and night missions. Stealthier and more analytical. Often referred to by riders as a “Night Wisp.” Fun Facts: Their glowing patterns are unique to each dragon—like a fingerprint. Can hum at frequencies that calm frightened animals or humans. Some Viking trackers use them as living compasses due to their internal magnetic sensitivity. 4th dragon type Species Name: Corpsemire Horror Class: Mystery Class General Species Traits: Appearance: The Corpsemire Horror is a terrifying yet intelligent dragon resembling both a decaying beast and a creature of myth. It features bone-white accents, spines along its back like exposed ribs, and haunting red eyes. The tongue is long and prehensile, used to sense, taste, and intimidate. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Venomous Mist — A foul-smelling, corrosive vapor exhaled to choke, blind, or dissolve obstacles. It leaves behind a black, oozing residue and a bone-chilling stench. Personality: Cold, cunning, and fiercely independent. Corpsemires are not easy to befriend, but when bonded, they are unwaveringly loyal and deadly defenders. They are known to “play dead” or use fear tactics to intimidate foes. They're found near areas with dead animals and trees. Speed: 6/10 — Powerful but slow on land; more agile in the air with long, intimidating swoops and sharp, unsettling turns. Firepower: 8/10 — Its breath weapon is less about fire and more about decay. It can neutralize other dragons' fire or poison fields with its acidic fog. Endurance: 9/10 — Extremely durable. It’s built to survive in toxic swamps, graveyards, and wastelands. Resistance to most elemental and biological attacks. Unique Abilities: Can mimic the scent of death or rotting to mask its presence. Emits low-frequency growls that can disorient prey (and even dragons). Regenerates slowly by absorbing minerals and decay from its surroundings. Fun Facts: It’s rumored that Corpsemire eggs only hatch under a blood moon or in cursed lands. Some tribes once believed seeing a Corpsemire was a sign that someone in the village would die soon. Its skeletal markings change slightly over time, resembling evolving runes. 5th dragon type Species Name: Nyxwing Sovereign Class: Strike Class / Stoker Class Hybrid General Species Traits: Appearance: The Nyxwing Sovereign is a breathtaking celestial dragon with wings like the night sky—dappled with star-like speckles that shimmer as it moves. Its horns and spines resemble flowing cosmic energy, and its long, elegant body moves with a haunting, dreamlike grace. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Starlight Burst — The Nyxwing channels bursts of intense white-blue energy, like condensed light from stars. When flying at high speed, it leaves behind trails of glowing particles. Personality: Quiet, wise, and observant. Nyxwings are not aggressive by default, but they are fiercely territorial at night. They have an almost regal demeanor and often avoid conflict unless provoked. They only come out at night. Speed: 10/10 — Blazingly fast in the air, capable of sudden vanishing dives. They can glide almost endlessly and become nearly invisible against the night sky. Firepower: 7/10 — While not explosive, their attacks are precise and disorienting. They can blind and stun opponents with flash-bursts of light or concussive pulses. Endurance: 8/10 — Despite their sleek build, Nyxwings are surprisingly tough and excel in harsh night conditions and at high altitudes. Unique Abilities: Celestial Camouflage: Near-invisibility in darkness thanks to their reflective scale patterns. Echolight Navigation: Emits silent pulses to map surroundings in total darkness. Can “charge” its wings under moonlight to increase energy-based attacks. Fun Facts: Legends say these dragons are born from falling stars, and their appearance is seen as a good omen. The speckles on their wings are unique to each dragon—akin to a cosmic fingerprint. Some ancient cultures believed a Nyxwing would guard the souls of the dead during their journey to the afterlife. 6th dragon type Species Name: Vireon Spirescale Class: Mystery Class General Species Traits: Appearance: Sleek and raptor-like, the Vireon Spirescale has extremely long wings resembling massive feathers, and a whip-like tail that ends in sharp, leafy extensions. Its neck and body are sinuous, and its feathers shimmer faintly in shifting hues. The design suggests a mix of bird and serpent, optimized for precision aerial maneuvering. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Razor Dive — Attacks from above with wing-blade slashes and tail whips. Can strike with blinding speed and then vanish back into the skies. Personality: Proud, aloof, and fiercely intelligent. Vireon Spirescales bond only with riders or companions who earn their respect through wit or honor. They are often solitary but protective of their territory. Speed: 9/10 — Extremely fast gliders with exceptional maneuverability, especially in mountainous or cliffside terrain. Firepower: 6/10 — Instead of fire, they use wind-slicing wing beats and sonic screeches to damage or disorient. Endurance: 7/10 — Agile and lean, not built for tanking hits but capable of enduring long-distance flights and harsh altitudes. Unique Abilities: Sonic Cry: A high-pitched screech that can rupture eardrums or disorient other dragons temporarily. Aero-Shear Wingbeats: Can slice through dense objects or even redirect smaller projectiles with a flap of their wings. Their tails are prehensile and can be used to grip or whip with deadly force. Fun Facts: The Vireon is rumored to be born from mountain storms and tempests. Ancient scrolls call them “Sky Judges,” often seen circling battlefields or high peaks. Despite their cold demeanor, they are fiercely loyal once bonded, often communicating through body language and wind currents. 7th dragon type Species Name: Spardantiumasaurus Scientific Title: Ferem Tyrannis Class: Tracker/Strike Class Hybrid General Species Traits: Appearance: The Spardantiumasaurus is a high-speed, avian-reptilian apex predator. Drenched in electric red and deep navy with accents of cyan under the tail feathers, this dragon commands attention both visually and physically. Its massive wings are feathered and optimized for speed and burst flight, while its muscular body allows ground sprinting and high-impact strikes. Dragon Stats & Traits: Preferred Attack Type: Talon Blitz — Flies overhead at blinding speeds, launching downward with raking talon slashes and precision bites to immobilize prey. Personality: Bold, aggressive, and territorial. Spardantiumasaurus dragons are proud and unrelenting, often challenging threats head-on rather than avoiding them. They show loyalty through acts of defense and acts of dominance. Speed: 10/10 — Designed for pure burst velocity, both in air and on land. Their wingspan allows for high-speed pursuits, and their tail stabilizer helps with mid-air turns. Firepower: 7/10 — Emits ultrasonic screeches and can focus kinetic bursts from wing flaps to knock back or disorient enemies. Endurance: 8/10 — Muscular and robust, built to handle high-impact flight and prolonged engagements. Unique Abilities: Razor Resonance Roar: A shriek that disorients prey and briefly distorts vision via inner ear disruption. Featherblade Barrage: Its wing feathers can be rapidly snapped forward like blades during high-speed dives. Sky Sovereign Reflexes: Enhanced neural responses allow this dragon to dodge projectiles or weave through dense terrain at breakneck speeds. Fun Facts: The crest and coloration are believed to be both a mating display and a warning signal. Fossil records suggest the Spardantiumasaurus was once thought extinct—its name literally means “Spartan Tyrant Lizard.” Often found in stormy, cliff-lined regions where updrafts and open sky give it maximum hunting efficiency. 8th dragon type Species Name: Thalavendea Class: Tracker-Class (with elements of Strike-Class) Nickname: Silver Gale Drake Height (at shoulder): ~3.1 m Wingspan: 21–25 m General Description: The Thalavendea, or Silver Gale Drake, is a highly elusive dragon native to remote coastal cliffs and isolated silver isles. With sleek aerodynamic design, feathered wingtips, and a long, flowing tail, this dragon is a symbol of elegance and power in flight. Its plumage-like scale pattern gives it an ethereal look, and its ability to ride wind currents makes it an unmatched long-distance glider. Dragon Stats & Traits: Speed: 9/10 – Exceptionally fast in open skies. Excels at gliding for hours with minimal energy loss. Stealth: 8/10 – Its pale coloring blends into clouds and sea fog, making it hard to detect from above or below. Firepower: 5/10 – Instead of fire, it releases wind shockwaves from its wings and emits piercing screeches that disrupt flight in smaller dragons. Intelligence: 9/10 – Calculated and serene. It avoids confrontation unless necessary and can solve complex aerial puzzles. Endurance: 10/10 – Known to stay airborne for days. Its efficient physiology minimizes energy use during gliding. Abilities: Gale Slash – A sudden snap of its wings can unleash a concussive wind burst, capable of knocking opponents off balance. Sky Mirage – Uses altitude, wind, and light to appear as a shimmering illusion in the sky, disorienting pursuers. Storm Sense – Can detect approaching weather shifts hours before they occur and uses storm fronts to gain height and speed. Behavior: Temperament: Calm and observant. These dragons are deeply loyal but slow to trust. They tend to bond with equally quiet, thoughtful riders. Habitat: Cliffside caverns, high-altitude islands, and cloud-covered mountain ranges. Fun Fact: Thalavendea's feathers glow faintly at twilight, which has inspired numerous sailor myths calling them “Ghost Wings” or “Sky Spirits.” 9th Dragon type Species Name: Skorsis Class: Strike Size: Medium (Approx. 24 feet wingspan) Fire Type: Plasma Burst – a crackling arc of blue-gold energy Abilities: Stealth glide: Skorsis can become nearly silent mid-flight. Solar charge: Golden patches on wings absorb sunlight, enhancing its plasma attacks. Prehensile tail used for steering or slashing. Behavior: Highly intelligent, loyal to a fault, but only bonds with riders who prove themselves. It is elusive and prefers twilight hours to fly, blending in with the dusky sky. Habitat: Coastal cliffs and open skies. Weakness: Cloudy days reduce plasma charge; not ideal for close combat. 10th dragon type (Very rare) Species Name: Solclipse Class: Mystery Size: Large (Wingspan up to 60 feet) Fire Type: Solar Flare – emits intense heat waves and blinding flashes from its wings Abilities: Eclipse Cloak: Can phase out of visibility during solar eclipses or in the shadow of the moon. Dual Vision: One eye sees extreme heat signatures, the other perceives cosmic energy (red = heat, blue = void). Zero Gravity Glide: Can defy gravity temporarily, allowing space-like floating movements. Behavior: Mythical and elusive, the Solclipse appears only during rare astronomical events. It is serene but immensely powerful—its presence is more omen than attack. Habitat: High-altitude mountain peaks or outer atmospheric layers. Weakness: Rare appearance makes it vulnerable only during full materialization; dependent on solar energy. Myth: Ancient scrolls describe it as a celestial guardian who flies between worlds during eclipses, rarely interacting with humans—only worthy Sky Riders ever witness it. 11th dragon type- Species Name: Skytuft Raptor Class: Sharp Size: Medium (Wingspan ~30 feet) Fire Type: Sonic Chirp – emits concussive bursts of sound to disorient foes and echolocate in dense fog or forests Abilities: Featherflash: Can dazzle predators with iridescent wing displays Windweaving: Master of air currents, can turn on a wingtip and hover with near silence Flockmind: When traveling in groups, shares sensory information for coordinated evasive maneuvers Behavior: Skytuft Raptors are social, intelligent, and extremely fast. Though not aggressive by nature, they will protect their territory or bonded rider fiercely. They are also among the few dragon species that perform aerial dances as part of courtship or warning. Habitat: Cloud-draped cliffs, wind tunnels, and alpine forests Weakness: Thin skin and hollow bones make them vulnerable to strong physical blows or traps Bonding: Responds well to high-pitched calls and gentle movement. Riders often use whistling commands. 12th dragon type - (Only one) Species Name: Umbrosinge (a.k.a. “Eclipse Serpent”) Class: Mystery Size: Large (Wingspan ~65 feet) Fire Type: Solar Beam – charges a golden, burning energy in its throat and unleashes a focused beam that can melt stone Abilities: Solar Eclipse Pulse: When partially charged by sunlight, it emits blinding flashes and heatwaves that confuse enemies Phase Drift: Can vanish into shadows or blinding light for a brief moment, making it near-impossible to track in combat Sunmarked Vision: Its circular eye-mark detects heat signatures, even through fog or walls Behavior: Solitary, regal, and mysterious. Umbrosinges are only seen during solar eclipses or in lands of eternal dusk. Legends claim they watch over the balance between light and dark, intervening only when necessary. Habitat: Volcanic ridges, obsidian deserts, or high-atmosphere cloud layers near solar altitudes Weakness: Cannot produce its solar beam without sunlight; becomes weaker during prolonged periods of darkness or underground confinement Bonding: Near-impossible. Only those who’ve seen an eclipse dragon and survived may earn its wary curiosity—and perhaps, eventually, its respect.
