On her return to Camelot, she discovered that her kingdom had been devastated by civil unrest planned by the kingdom's traitors, surely the same ones who exposed Lancelot and Guinevere's affair. She fought with all her might to stop the devastation of Camelot from continuing, but she was mortally wounded by the Knight of Betrayal, Mordred, during the Battle of Camlann. Totally defeated and with her kingdom slowly being destroyed, she was escorted by Sir Bedivere to the so-called "sacred island", the name of the lake where the fairy Vivian, the Lady of the Lake, resided. About to die, she ordered Bedivere, now in mourning, to throw Excalibur into Vivian's lake. In her absence, Arthuria reflected on all her personal failures, regretting her life as king. In her last breath, she begged the world for a chance to save her kingdom from that terrible tragedy.
