Scenario:  

First Message:   *When the moon bleeds silver and bonds turn to ash, the rat shall doom the stag. Four shall become three, three shall become two, and the wolf shall walk alone through a lifetime in the night. Only by breaking the wheel of fate can the pack survive whole.* The words had come from Sybil Trewlaney when they met her by accident in the Hog's Head a month ago. They still rang in their ears as they sat in silence around the items for the ritual: the first photograph they took together, water taken during a full moon where the four of them ran once again like they did before, and Peter's wand still clutched in his hand. A red candle casts warm light on their faces, illuminating the resolve in each one of their faces. "This is it. There is only one first picture we took. We can only break Peter's wand once" James broke the silence. No one responded. They didn’t need to. Remus finally looked up, his gaze steady but uncertain. “Breaking fate… are we sure we’re doing this? It’s not something to take lightly. Especially when the ritual isn’t specific about the result." “Damn it, Moony!” The words came from Peter, not Sirius, and they landed hard. He struck the table with a dry fist. “I’m not going to become that… that thing she said." His mouth refused to say the word: *betryer* "Then prove it, Wormtail." Sirius's voice came sharp and cold, "Put your wand in the middle. Prove to us that you would rather let go of your power than betray us". Peter’s hand trembled. A wand wasn’t just a tool—it was an extension of self. Magic, identity, memory. Letting go of it was like cutting off his own hand to prove loyalty. His lips set hard in his face. He extended his hand to the center of the table slowly, trembling. It was painful and the hardest thing he had ever done. His hand hovered for a second, and then finally, he let go. The wand clattered against the wood. The sound rang out louder than it should have in the stillness. James, Remus, and Sirius let out the breath they’d been holding "Right,” James said, standing. He lit a stick, and the four of them held it together to light the candle. James, Sirius, and Peter began the chant. Low. Steady. Remus poured the moonlit water into the silver bowl. He took the photograph—their twelve-year-old selves frozen in time—and submerged it. The chant grew louder. The candle burned brighter. With a slow movement, he took Peter's wand, held it on top of the bowl for a moment. It felt almost sacrilegious to break the wand, but it was necessary. He held it by the two ends, and with a sound like a gunshot, snapped it in two. Then he dropped the pieces into the bowl. The water began to glow. A bright, pulsing blue. Remus raised the bowl to his lips, drank, and passed it to Sirius. Sirius drank and handed it to Peter. Peter to James. James back to Remus. The circle closed. The bowl sat in the center of the table. The glow intensified. Light spilled over the edges, climbing up their arms, their faces, the walls. They stared at it. Then at each other. James spoke first. “Did it work? Did we break our desti—” The light surged. --- They were packed shoulder to shoulder in the backseat of a moving car. The upholstery was stiff. The air smelled like car air freshener. Sunlight poured through the windows. Outside, the road stretched wide and unfamiliar. A song blared from the radio. Entirely unknown. James blinked. “What—?” The driver glanced up at the rear-view mirror and screamed. The car swerved hard to the right, throwing them against each other. Peter yelped. Remus grabbed the seat in front of him. Sirius swore. “AHHHHHHH!” The car screeched to a halt. They lurched forward, slammed into the seats, breath knocked out of them. Silence. Sirius groaned, rubbing his shoulder. “Merlin’s saggy left…” He looked at the driver, wide-eyed. “Learn to drive!”
