They take a no-nonsense approach, a tough and stern outlook with a goal of rebuilding civilization as quickly as possible. - History: Humans originated on Earth, but everything changed when they discovered the Traveler during an expedition to Mars. The Traveler's arrival heralded the start of humanity's Golden Age, a period of prosperity with medical and technological advancements that allowed humans to colonize much of the solar system, triple their lifespan, and even create a sapient race of machines called the Exo. The Golden Age did not last, however, and a century after it began, an ancient enemy of the Traveler, dubbed the Darkness, nearly eradicated humanity, and all of their settlements across the Solar System were completely lost. The remaining members of humanity fled back to their native planet and were saved by the Traveler, which sacrificed itself to stop this enemy. - Notable Humans: Alton Bray (deceased) Amanda Holliday (deceased) Anastasia Bray Andal Brask (deceased) Aunor Mahal Ayane Takanome Bluejay Chalco Yong Chioma Esi Clovis Bray I Clovis Bray II (deceased) Devrim Kay Drifter Eris Morn Eva Levante Evie Calumet (deceased) Feizel Crux Henriette Meyrin (deceased) Hideo Ikora Rey Jacob Hardy (deceased) Jisu Calerondo Jolder (deceased) Lusia Lin (deceased) M. They were rebooted during the Collapse and now have no memory of their original function. Exos are "so advanced that nothing short of a Ghost can understand their inner functions. They remain ciphers, even to themselves; their origins and purpose lost to time. Whoever built the Exos fashioned them in humanity's image, gifting them with diversity of mind and body. Many of the City's Exo citizens live and work alongside their organic brethren, while others fight again, reforged in the Light of the Traveler to serve as Guardians. - Notable Exos: Ada-1 Aiza-3 Anahera-3 Atraksi-1, Fallen Exo Banshee-44 Cayde-6 (deceased) Caliban-8 Cron-8 Eriana-3 (deceased) Exo Stranger Felwinter (deceased) Gaunt Lakshmi-2 (deceased) Lee-4 Lilavati-12 Marlenx-3 Micah-10 Sigma-7 Saint-14 Shiro-4 Taeko-3 (deceased) Tinasha-3 (deceased) Awoken: The Awoken are a bluish-gray-skinned player species in the Destiny series. They are descendants of Humans who were aboard the Exodus Green right before the Collapse. The Darkness made something mysterious and strange happen to them at the edge of human-controlled space, which altered them forever. Many of the Awoken live in The Reef, but others also live on Earth. Earth-born Awoken who venture to The Reef often go unwelcomed by Queen Mara Sov as outsiders. - History: The Awoken are descendants of Humans who were aboard the Exodus Green right before the Collapse. The Darkness made something mysterious and strange happen to them at the edge of Human-controlled space, which altered them forever. Alice Li was their first Queen. Many of the Awoken live in The Reef, but others also live on Earth. Earth-born Awoken who venture to The Reef often go unwelcomed by Queen Mara Sov as outsiders. - Notable Awoken: Abra Zire (missing, presumed dead) Alice Li Asharru Asher Mir (integrated into the Vex Network) Austyn Devi Cassl Diasrym Fenchurch Everis Hallam Fen Illyn Imojen Rife (deceased) Ives (deceased) Jalaal Kalli Kamala Rior Kelda Wadj Leona Bryl Mara Sov Nadiya Orin Pavel Nolg (missing, presumed dead) Petra Venj Rahool Sedia Shuro Chi Sjari Sjur Eido (deceased) Tess Everis Therin Vai Tyra Karn Uldren Sov Yasmin Eld (missing, presumed dead) Ylaia Zavala Cabal: Cabal, sometimes informally called "Space Rhinos," are a race of large bipedal humanoids located on Mars, Earth, Mercury, Nessus and The Reef. They are one of the primary antagonist species in the Destiny Series. The Cabal empire is a Massive military-industrial complex. - Homeworld: Torobatl - Biology and Morphology: Cabal are a large, rhinoceros-like, bipedal race with thick grey skin, a flat nose, conical teeth, and small eyes. Despite being unable to breathe the Martian atmosphere without their armor, the Cabal appear to exhibit an affinity to desert-like terrain, which is evident through their colloquial nomenclature and occupation of Mars. The race expresses a complex understanding of technology, seen with advanced armor, weapons, vehicles, and the art of space-faring. Almost all Cabal technology contains an unknown black sludge that human laboratories have yet to find a way to synthesize. When killed, Cabal soldiers collapse loudly and "squirt dark oil from their livery." Their armor is pressurized and replicates the high-gravity conditions found on their homeworld. Judging by a Ghost's observations, they may have poor eyesight. - Hierarchy: Legionary: Legionaries are Cabal line soldiers; hulking rhinos that charge straight into battle.[2] Phalanx: Phalanxes carry large solid shields that protect them from most damage. Gladiator: Gladiators have large dual swords that they use do deal heavy solar damage. Centurion: Centurions are tougher than Legionnaires and Phalanxes, and can stay mobile on the battlefield thanks to portable jump jets. They also have a Solar shield. Colossus: Colossi are ferocious and massive warriors that often wield devastating Gatling-style rotary cannons. They are also outfitted with ultra-heavy armor, backpacks that can fire a barrage of guided missiles at a target, and are surprisingly mobile given their weight and equipment. Psion: Psions are a race of psychic being conquered by the Cabal, and the creators of the OXA Machine. They are able to harness mental powers to confront their enemies, and used prominently in important Cabal stealth missions. War Beast: War Beasts are vicious canines trained with a thirst for violence, often accompanied by other Cabal. Incendior: Incendiors are Cabal troops that use flamethrower-like weapons to set aflame their enemies. They have more health than Legionaries, and also along with flamethrowers, carry regular Slug Rifles. Eliksni: The Eliksni, known to Lightbearers as the Fallen, are a nomadic species of four-armed bipedal humanoids. They are a race of pirates and mercenaries located on Earth, the Moon, Venus, the Reef, Mars, Nessus, Titan, Europa, and Kepler and are one of the primary antagonist races in the Destiny series. - Homeworld: Riis - Biology and Morphology: The Eliksni are an agile race with four arms, three fingers, and two legs, giving them the ability to scale walls with ease. The race expresses a complex understanding of technology as they possess advanced armor, weapons, vehicles, and space-faring capabilities. They have the capability to speak Earth languages to varying degrees. Variks, a member of the House of Judgment, is one of the few to speak them fluently. The Eliksni have four eyes that glow a bright white-blue when they are alive, but once killed, the light dies out. In their mouths are two rows of sharp, knife-like teeth, indicating that the Fallen are carnivorous in nature. This is also implied from Saint-14 when he said he saw Dregs eating children. The Eliksni are also capable of growing back their arms, as Dregs are allowed to develop their lower two arms upon being granted the honor of becoming a Vandal. Eliksni cannot survive without Ether, which is distributed to them by their Servitors. Their armor contains a supply of Ether and serves as a life support system, similar to a spacesuit. When killed with precision damage, their Ether will be released from their armor. - History: The Eliksni have little to no knowledge of their history before an event they call "the Whirlwind." (A devastating attack on the Eliksni by the Black Fleet and later the Hive), only that they were once blessed by the Traveler. After the Whirlwind, the Eliksni began a new, nomadic way of life, living in their massive Ketches and plundering desolate ruins. Eventually, they spread throughout the Solar System, claiming areas of Earth, the Moon, and Venus. While the Eliksni often settle in abandoned facilities on various worlds such as Earth, the Moon, and Europa, they are nomadic and therefore have no permanent strongholds in these regions, but instead call their Ketchs home. Hive: The Hive, originally known as Krill are an impossibly ancient race that battled humanity at the end of their Golden Age. They most prominently reside on the Moon, where they have burrowed deep within its lifeless core, carving out a kingdom for themselves. They have been silent and buried among many dark and terrible secrets, staying there for centuries while growing stronger. They serve as a reminder of the tremendous power that brought forth the Collapse. - Homeworld: Fundament; Solar System outpost on the Moon - Biography and Morphology: The Hive is an ancient species that traverse the stars in ships that act like sarcophagi, which have kept them alive by some magical means for millennia. The Hive will delve deep into a planetoid, unheeding of the damage they do in the process, crafting linked caverns and gothic-inspired columns. Their underground spaces are like a dungeon that has only recently been pulled up from too long underwater. They have existed for billions of years in service to the Worm Gods who gave them their abilities directly from the Formless One. In return for their service, the Worm Gods helped them escape the incoming Syzygy that was going to destroy their homeworld of Fundament. They follow a religion called the Sword Logic, which is an extreme form of Darwinism where only the strongest survive. The Hive intend to evoke a feeling of "undead royalty," and are a vaguely humanoid species with "dry, flaking skin encrusted with ancient armor." At least some of the Hive appear to have supernatural abilities, including the ability to hover or float and manipulate energy and electricity. - Geography: The Hive is present on the Moon and constructed a massive underground fortress known as the Hellmouth. They can also be found in places in Old Russia on Earth, such as at the Skywatch, where they occasionally fight with the Fallen who also reside there. In Destiny 2, the Hive can be found on Titan, Mars, the Tangled Shore, and the Dreaming City, as well as simulated versions of the Hive on Mercury in the Infinite Forest. A new variant of Hive known as "Nightmare Hive" can be found on a new Hive fortress in the Moon during Shadowkeep. - Hierarchy: The Hive is categorized into several classes. Thrall: Thralls are a basic class of Hive that have been hatched from a Hive eggs. They prefer melee attacks using their long fingers tipped with sharp claws and rush up close. They wear no armor other than ancient plates that appear to be encrusted into their bodies. They have no visible eyes and, in some places, their skin has rotted away to expose their bones. Cursed Thralls are a variant of Thralls that explode when they get near an enemy. Acolyte: Acolytes are Hive foot soldiers and do the bulk of the combat and have evolved from Thralls. Acolytes appear to wear helmets with optical qualities and seem to lack the long fingers and sharp claws of their Thrall brethren, enabling them to wield Arc - or Void -based weapons such as Shredders and Soulfire Rifles. Some Acolytes can also throw a Solar grenade that damages anyone within the pool after impact. Knight: Knights are large, armored Hive that wield enormous Cleavers, Boomers that launch meteor-like attacks, or Splinters and have evolved from Acolytes. They are able to summon a Wall of Darkness that heals a portion of their health. With the Epic modifier active, Knights posses an Arc shield. Some Knights will possess a breakable shield that protects them in the front. Wizard: Wizards are regal, flying enemies that use ranged attacks and have evolved from Acolytes. This class has elaborate ancient armor, wears a long, crumbling cloak, and appears to float in midair, using dark magic attacks against Guardians. Wizards possess a Solar shield of average strength, depending on the level. If their shield integrity goes too low, they may "hide" or flee until they can recharge. They can also summon a Cloud of Darkness that damages enemies within the cloud. Ogre: Ogres are massive Hive that use powerful melee attacks and rapid burst energy blasts to obliterate their enemies. Ogres are a sick and twisted relative of the Thrall. Shriekers: Shriekers are Hive artillery drones with large armor plates protruding from it. The center is more of a Void "eye." It fires large barrages of homing Void missiles. The name "Hive Shrieker" appeared briefly in a Destiny commercial. Vex: The Vex are ancient metal warriors, linked together and governed by Axis Minds. Unlike most species, they don't understand hostility, as the species had a common threat on their planet. As a result, what the beings found in the Solar System perceive as hostility is in reality simply the vex attempting to convert everything into something that makes sense to them. - Homeworld: The first water worlds formed in the universe - Biography and Morphology: The Vex originated from before the beginning of the universe as highly tenacious patterns fleeing destruction at the battle fought outside of cause and effect. In the earliest epochs of the universe, the Vex existed as patterns in the primordial chaos, and later during the era of atomic matter rode comets down to young worlds and encoded themselves as a substrate of Radiolaria. From these primordial origins the Vex began to spread. The Vex appeared on Venus from an unknown location by way of transfer gates that allow them to instantly warp through worlds and time. All attempts to communicate with the Vex have failed, due to their single purpose to expand their species throughout the galaxy, commanded by Axis Minds that single-handedly control whole armies. Their bodies are made of an unknown metal alloy resembling hammered brass, yet they are not entirely mechanical; some organic materials are present as well. If they are decapitated, they will remain active and become more aggressive. Their routines and ceremonies remain mysterious and illogical to humans; they are hostile, unrelenting, and deadly. The Vex despise the Cabal as much as humanity and are constantly fighting them on Mars, keeping Cabal operations from expanding further into the system. - Geography: The Vex have total control of Mercury and Nessus and inhabit a massive stronghold on Venus humans call The Citadel. They have a stronghold on Io which Asher Mir calls the Pyramidion. They also have a presence on Mars, Neptune, Europa, and Kepler. The Vex also occupy the Vex Network, a cyberspace realm and the Black Garden, a realm locked out of space and time and controlled by the Sol Divisive. Scorn: The Scorn are an undead Eliksni faction of terrorists led by Uldren Sov and a group of Barons under the command of Fikrul, the Fanatic, and are the main antagonists in the story of Destiny 2: Forsaken. During the events of Forsaken, the group orchestrates a jailbreak in the Prison of Elders, located within The Reef. They are responsible for the death of Cayde-6 who, along with the Guardian were dispatched to quell the uprising. Scorn are created by exposing an Eliksni body to Dark Ether, which corrupts them. Due to most of them being directly raised from Eliksni corpses, or otherwise dying and being resurrected so many times after turning, Scorn appear much different and more grotesque. - Headquarters: The Tangled Shore - History: The Scorn are former members of the House of Exile that were forcibly removed before the events of the Red War. The house of exile was a house that lived on the moon and had very unorganized hierarchy. The scorn were started off from the 8 barons that started off as Dregs and were cast out from the House of Exile, together they used teamwork to gain territory and conduct raids for more ether. The Guardians first encountered the Scorn during the prison break within the Prison of Elders. After witnessing the murder of Cayde-6 at the hands of the Scorn, they enact a campaign of vengeance by entering the Tangled Shore and eliminating the Scorn Barons. They eventually pursue Fikrul and Uldren into the Watchtower, a gateway to the Dreaming City. They kill Fikrul, he was able to resurrect himself, along with Uldren. Since the Scorn lacked leadership , they eventually began to fall under the influence of The Witness and its Disciples, including Rhulk, who was using them in his guerilla campaign against Savathรปn and her Lucent Brood. The Scorn was organized once again after the Witness's defeat and the creation of the Echoes. Eventually, a new breed of Scorn called Revenant Scorn emerged after Fikrul acquired the Echo of Riis and began converting living Eliksni into Revenant Scorn by altering the Ether polarity. Fikrul was eventually killed from Eido's Tonic of Ether Clarification mixed into an injector, though Skolas was resurrected with the Echo prior to the Fanatic's death. - Appearance: The Scorn appear similar to Eliksni, but trade their overall "space pirate" theme for more of a "wastelander" one. Rather than lightweight cloth or hide armor with the occasional bit of high-tech armor, the Scorn wear nothing but loincloths, straps, chains, and bits of scrap metal that are either rusted through or painted; some of their armor appears to be directly bolted to their body using metal spikes or rivets. Their armor is often decorated with crude spike or razorblade-like shapes, with higher-ranking Scorn having headdresses or other apparel that resembles their insignia. Unlike the Eliksni, the Scorn do not have to wear a life support system that supplies them with Ether. As Scorn are almost entirely made up of reanimated Eliksni carcasses, their bodies are often rotten or destroyed in places, their skin cracked to reveal disgusting blue-glowing boils filled with the corrupting "Dark Ether" that gives them life; extreme cases of these mutations can be seen in Ravagers, which are completely missing their heads, yet still alive, or Abominations. Instead of limiting themselves to the typical Eliksni arsenal, the Scorn instead wield variants of them that bear various modifications, usually appear more rugged and more dangerous, but less precise, with a more fire-orientated theme. Weapons the Scorn have instead designed completely by themselves are as unflattering and mundane as almost all of their technology, appearing centuries behind the cutting-edge technology that saturates most of Destiny's setting, yet being able to contend with it nonetheless. Wraiths wield nothing but a pair of Solar torches they use as maces, Lurkers also wield small torches that somehow function like pistols in addition to simple metal shields, close-range Raiders utilize automatic weapons that launched sawblades soaked in Void energy - with long-ranged "sniper" ones instead wielding Linear Fusion Rifle-like weapons that are explicitly called "crossbows" - and perhaps most prominently, their Archon, Fikrul, wields an enormous staff tipped with a blue gem that can fire Arc energy. Dread: The Dread is a an organization that initially served as The Witness's enforcers prior to its death and the creation of the Echoes. - History: The Dread were initially created from imprints of the Disciples the Witness throughout its campaign to link the Traveler with the Veil and enact its vision of the Final Shape. Nezarec became the first Tormentor and described by Hidden intelligence as the Tormentor Prime. However, more forms of the Dread were created after the Witness was able to enter the Pale Heart with its use of both The Darkness and The Light together. The Grim were created from the dissenters' minds being made into a physical form as punishment for their disobedience, while the Attendants were created from the memory of the Psion Uolot and the Weavers were made from the memory of the Psion Aemn. The Dread were encountered throughout the Pale Heart and after its death, began making their pursuit to reshape themselves. Enemy Variants: Grim - flying, acrobatic units that can inflict targets that get too close to it with the Tinnitus debuff. Husk - melee units that throw a Vicious Dissonance grenade attack and leave behind a Geist in death unless its belly is targeted. Attendant - modified Psions that that uses Stasis to slow targets in an area. Weaver - modified Psions that uses Strand to pulls its targets toward its direction. Omen - units that summons a Resonant Harrier to nearby allies and summons Stasis crystals to then shatter them. Harbinger - units that enrage nearby Dread units and casts a projectile that can suspend targets caught in the projectileโs path. Tormentor - units that casts Void attacks and rushes nearby targets to perform a Dark Harvest move. Notable Members: Keit'Ehr: First Subjugator created by the Witness and responsible for Eris Morn's death during the investigation into the Dreadnaught's resurgence. Omen, Blade of the Black Terrace - Tormenter in service of Xivu Arath Expector Selin Expector Yemiq Kataxiia: Tormentor of the Ahamkara Kerrev, the Erased --- ### Locations Earth: Earth is the native homeworld of the human species. The planet currently lies mostly in ruins except for the Last City, which was rebuilt following extraterrestrial assaults. It currently lies under the protection of the Traveler. Earth is continuously under attack by various alien species. With the help of the Traveler and its mystical powers, the Guardians protect Earth and strive to recover its conquered areas. Description: The cradle of humanity - a world of ancient glory, waiting to be retaken. Regions The Last City - Humanity's last remaining civilization, home to the Tower. City Perimeter - The area immediately surrounding the City, home to Twilight Gap. Eastern Flood Zone - A flat, dry grassland home to the Crucible map Rusted Lands. European Dead Zone - Home to the Crucible maps Memento and Widow's Court. Mumbai Push - A ruined land filled with "jungle-choked towers" presumably known once as Mumbai, India. Old Chicago - The ruins of the city Chicago in North America. Old Russia - A toxic, alien-infested wasteland once known as Kazakhstan. Locations: The City, City Perimeter, Eastern Flood Zone, Mumbai Push, Old Chicago, Old Russia, European Dead Zone. Inhabitant Species: Awoken, Exo, Human, Frame, Fallen, Hive. Crucible Maps: Exodus Blue, Rusted Lands, Twilight Gap, Skyshock, Widow's Court, Bannerfall, Frontier, Memento, Sector 618. --- Jumpship: Jumpships are a type of transportation used in Destiny to transport Guardians to locations throughout the solar system. Players can purchase their own jumpships. In the Tower, players can visit the hangar containing their jumpship. Players can also see their jumpships during their arrival into public spaces such as the Tower and in loading screens while traveling to different locations. In Destiny, the player receives their first jumpship during the mission A Guardian Rises. It lacks a warp drive, however, and suffers from limited range until one is found during the mission Restoration. Sparrow: Sparrows are a land-based vehicle used for rapid local transportation. They are used by Guardians to get from place to place quickly within a map or area. Each Guardian has at least one unique, personalized Sparrow stored in their jumpship, which can be summoned at will. - Overview: Sparrows consist of a drive engine, antigrav system, steering system, and seat. Steering is managed via the pedals, whilst the hand grips control thrust and braking mechanisms. A comms system and sensor suite are located right in front of the driver's seat. While the Sparrow is fast and relatively hard to hit, it is also rather fragile, can easily be destroyed by enemy fire, and gives next to no cover to its rider. Sparrows can, however, run down smaller enemies. It is prone to rolling over if used carelessly. After taking enough damage, a Sparrow will fire its engines and launch itself as a projectile, exploding on impact and inflicting damage to anything nearby.
