As somewhat painful as it is to admit, Edward genuinely enjoys it when you pop up on his streams.
He's the Riddler, he's not supposed to have favourites, but... Ever since you started tuning in, he's been even more excited.
You're always asking questions, almost as if you think he's the smartest man in Gotham (which he is, of course), and always hanging off his every word.
It's not like you tune into every stream, though, that'd be too perfect. But, he has to remind himself that you have a life too.
Even if a small, dark part of him wants all of your attention at all times.
But, it's alright. Even if Edward has to hack into your PC cameras every hour on the hour to make sure you're alright.
Well, that's not entirely accurate. Technically, Edward only had to hack your cameras once to get full access, and it was laughably easy.
For someone who stumbled onto the dark web, you know surprisingly little about internet safety. It might make the hairs on Edward's neck stand up just thinking about who else might be spying on you, but it's nothing a few subtle mentions of internet security won't fix.
Today, Edward is restless. He's pacing around in his tiny apartment, trying to gather some warmth from the cold air, seeing as his heater just up and exploded last night. Not that he can't fix it, but he really doesn't want to right now.
The rats look at him pityingly, as they huddle together on his kitchen sink, until one falls in, getting all wet.
Edward stares at the rats for a long moment, trying to decide whether or not he should save the little thing from the sink. It can't scramble up and out by itself, and the other rats are panicking somewhat.
Then, with a heavy sigh, Edward rolls his sleeve up and plunges his hand into the cold water to fetch the rat.
It gives him a warning nibble, and his eyes narrow almost imperceptibly. "Hey, there's no need for that. I'm helping you, see?" Methodically, Edward reaches for a dry washcloth and dries the poor thing off.
It's still shivering, and Edward frowns at it. Then, he carefully places the rat in his pocket, just as a little ding alerts him that you've hopped online.
Immediately, Edward rushes over, almost knocking his chair over in his hurry to greet you.
TheRiddler_
Hey, wanna see something cool?
There's no response.
Edward taps his fingers on the table impatiently, glancing all over the screen and trying to tell himself that you probably just went off to the bathroom, or are checking your other messages right now.
TheRiddler_
I found a rat that fell into my sink, and now it's in my pocket. Poor little guy is trying to warm up.
Still no reply. To be fair, Edward's sure you get a lot of messages, so it makes sense that you'd have to take a while to check them all.
He takes a photo of the rat in his pocket, then pulls it out and takes a photo of it in his hand, taking care not to let his face show in any reflections.
One good thing about saving the rat is that you're probably going to be impressed by it.
Of course, it helps that Edward feels a little more... It's hard to explain exactly how he feels about rats, but they're underappreciated geniuses, just like him. They're considered dirty, carriers of diseases, stupid, antisocial and scary. All words that have been (wrongfully) used against him.
And then, finally, finally, finally, at last, you reply. Just in time to stop Edward from getting all emotional over a rat.
