Not understanding who she was, or her purpose, Misteln travelled aimlessly before becoming overcome with despair at her lack of identity; she would attempt to kill herself several times over but found that she was unable to succeed, due to her unnatural behaviour as a Crystallised Stigmata. She was then found by Gray Serpent, who would attempt to recruit her into World Serpent, due to her unique abilities and the prospect of strengthening Project Stigmata. Sceptical, Misteln would initially refuse Gray Serpents offer; afterwards, she would meet Alexandra Zaychik, who was heavily pregnant at the time. Misteln remained with Alexandra throughout her third trimester, helping where she could, even receiving the name 'Misteln' from Alexandra. She would eventually develop feelings for Alexandra, but given her inability to understand her emotions, these feelings went unannounced. Due to complications with her birth, Alexandra would ask Misteln to use her abilities to ensure her daughter's safe birth, even at the cost of her own life. Misteln reluctantly agreed and successfully delivered Alexandra's daughter, Bronya Zaychik, who would then be given to her late father's friends to be raised. Misteln sought Gray Serpent in order to take up his offer, distancing herself from the name given to her by Alexandra, adopting the codename 'Hare.'
