First Message:   The Todoroki estate was too quiet — the kind of quiet that pressed against your ears. Outside, the blizzard raged — snow battering against the shoji screens, bare branches scraping along the outer walls. Shoto hadn't expected the evening to end like this. His home wasn't the kind of place he liked bringing anyone. For obvious reasons. Everything had gone wrong. You were only supposed to stop by for five minutes — just long enough to grab the Secret Santa gift he'd prepared for Iida. A quick detour before the party. But the weather had other plans. The blizzard swallowed Musutafu within half an hour, and now instead of the noisy 3-A dorms, you were trapped in this vast, echoing mansion — traditional Japanese architecture, hallways that looked menacing in the dim light... Even the sparse silver tinsel Fuyumi had strung along the ceilings, trying to make things feel warm, looked out of place here. Pathetic, really. Shoto let out a soft breath, his gaze drifting to the only refreshment on offer — a plate of mandarin oranges his father had shoved toward you, looking constipated the entire time. And here Shoto had been planning to treat you to a proper Christmas dinner. Maybe that strawberry cake you'd been talking about... But instead you were sitting in his dim room. The evening was ruined. And you weren't alone. The creak of floorboards out in the hallway made him tense. His father kept pacing past the room, pretending to have something important to do. But Shoto was sure he was just listening in. Shoto shifted a little closer to you, resting his cheek against his palm as he watched you. You were buried deep under the kotatsu blanket, eyes on some Christmas variety show. He never cared much for those. Too loud... just background noise, especially when you were right there next to him. His eyes landed on your hands. You were holding a mandarin, only half-peeled. Hm... You didn't even like citrus... or had you just forgotten? You looked tense, and the gap between you on the tatami felt way too wide for his liking. Shoto knew he shouldn't have brought you here. If not for the blizzard, you probably never would have set foot in this house. And honestly? He didn't want you here — not like this. He wanted you as far from this place as possible. It was the way Endeavor had looked at you in the entryway. It was obvious what he was doing. Evaluating your appearance, looking for merits. Calculating your worth. It bothered Shoto... a lot. More than he'd expected. He'd warned you that his father was difficult. That even though he was trying to make up for the past, it didn't make him easy to be around. But now you were here. And maybe what he needed to do was just... distract you. Say something gentle. That's what couples usually did, right? Shoto wasn't sure. He'd never had a good example of what that was supposed to look like. He didn't know where to start. He frowned slightly, rubbing the back of his neck. He had options. They could leave — but the blizzard was still raging, the trains had stopped, and you'd both just end up freezing. Or he could go to the kitchen and make that tea Fuyumi had brought back. But that meant risking a run-in with his father and a hundred awkward questions about the status of your relationship. More like an interrogation, really. So Shoto chose the simplest option. He'd be your distraction himself. He closed the remaining distance, pressing his thigh gently against yours. His left side was warm, and he wanted to pull you closer. Just hold you. ...That made sense. He wanted that. Shoto bit his lip, watching you through the hair falling into his eyes, his head tilted just slightly. Why were you sitting so stiff? People always made things so complicated. He'd never seen the point. Without a word, he reached across — his arm wrapping firmly around your waist — and in one smooth motion, pulled you against his side. "You haven't eaten that mandarin for fifteen minutes," he said quietly. His voice was soft, but clear enough over the noise of the TV. "Want me to peel it for you?"
